#33DC Day 4: Tribal Nails

Hello polish lovers!

So one thing that I have noticed about these challenges is they get me to try things I have avoided, like tape mani's(which I need to work on) and today is another one, tribal print.  I have avoided the tribal prints although I don't know why.  I actually really enjoyed doing this mani, although I didn't get too intricate since it was my first and I didn't want to bite off more than I could chew.  So here is my Tribal nails.

So my base for this is the bottle in the picture which is OPI's The "IT" Color.  This took 3 coats to get opaque(3 coats! Ain't nobody got time for that!) this has a horrible formula, even for a yellow.  If I use this colour again I will definitely try layering it over white.  I used the brushes that came with my polish and created wide bands of colour in Nubar's Terra Cotta(brown) and Sinful Colors GoGo Girl(red) although I think the yellow base caused the colours to look more similar than they were.  Once those stripes had dried I used Nubar's black striper to create the stripes and v's and dots I used to complete my tribal design.

Tribal design: Matted
After I had SV'd my design I decided to see how it looks matte and used my OPI Matte Top Coat.  I actually prefer this matte.  I have used my matte top coat a number of times since and on some I really prefer the matte while on others I like the shine.

    I love this mani, the colours and the pattern. So bad the yellow took 3 coats, it is really a great colour. I also prefer it matte :)

    I really like this...it looks so simple, but definitely is an intrincate design, specially for the one of us that are starting in this world. So, claps for you! I love the color combo.
